DIGM 3350: Digital Media Materials and Processes
3350, otherwise known as "the field trip class". We traveled to two printing companies, one advertising, and one social media company. After each trip we would have to write a paper over our experience. When we were not on the road we were in class learning about different substrates such as vinyl and the durability of the two common types of vinyl. We explored more on the subject of paper and we even created some of our own paper using hand shredded paper, hole punched paper confetti, water, and solvent. We experimented with our made paper by applying textures to it and even embossing. We also discussed about package design and how origami plays a big part in it. We also discussed how ink won't mix with the water used in lithographic presses. To experience this phenomenon we created an image on top of water with liquid ink then we captured it much the same way dip painting works. Place the paper on-top of the water, lift it off carefully, and place it to dry. Print is a very vast topic and I'm happy to have taken this class. It is one of my most memorable classes.
