Visual communications serves as the course that introduced me to design theory. Understanding the different graphic elements within a layout and how they function within the hierarchy of information serves as the greatest benefit I received as a result of this course. Other design elements such as typography are explored thus equipping me with a further understanding and knowledge of how and why to use certain kinds of type (sans-serif, serif, script, novelty) depending on the message I am trying to convey. Leaving this course with a much better grasp and understanding of logical and visually attractive hierarchy allows for me to transmit messages with greater efficiency.
