As a result of my involvement in GCEAUH (Graphic Communications Education Association's Chapter at UH) as a student officer I was granted the opportunity to take a trip to the 2014 National Conference in Mansfield, Ohio. The trip was funded by a silent auction organized by our student group in part with a local professional association, Houston Production Managers Association. The conference took place during the summer of 2014 over four days at North Central State College. Workshops and keynotes ranged from working with kinetic type to what graphic students should know about marketing. The conference provided me with a great experience and allowed me to network with educational professionals in my industry. Other than educational workshops, keynotes, and on-site business tours, we also spent a day exploring the various attractions Cleveland Ohio has to offer, such as The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Cleveland Museum of Fine Art, and Little Italy just to name a few.
