Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, as a third generation printer, I moved to Houston after receiving the full Tier One Scholarship to attend the University of Houston to study architecture. After three semesters as an architecture student, I felt my passion begin to dwindle, feeling detached when working on large scope. Though it wasn't the right career for me, I still have a deep love and appreciation for architecture and am minoring in architectural history.
Since becoming a digital media major, my technological skills and design style have greatly evolved. My background in architecture gave me a design style rooted in minimalism, but digital media has pushed my personal style and given me the tools to execute it. More than that, I've found a field that I love. Design is a balance of utility and art, and that is something incredible and beautiful.
The University of Houston Digital Media Program also introduced me to a new medium and passion, packaging design, which presents similar challenges to those I loved about architecture, while keeping things to a more personal scale. Packaging combines visual communication with structural engineering to create a truly unique design medium.
