When I first started college, my studies weren't the best. I started my journey at the University of Houston in 2011 and was majoring in computer science at the time but the transition from high school to college was not an easy one. Little by little, my grades began to slip and I was inevitably academically suspended from the university.

It was during this time period that I had to truly reflect what I was doing with my life and where I wanted to go with my studies. So during my suspension I decided to turnover a new leaf and really analyze where I had gone wrong and how I was going to make sure I would make my way back into UH one way or another. After a year in Lone Star college where I accumulated college credits that I could transfer to UH, I was allowed back into the university under an academic probation period where they would monitor my grades and GPA.

Thanks to my determination to find ways to further improve my study skills, I manage not only to raise my grades and GPA, but also make it in the Dean's List within a year of my return.

But going back also meant figuring out once and for all what major I would take on that I knew could both help me expand my knowledge, but also provide me with a multitude of job opportunities. It's then when I discovered Digital Media and through that major, I met Dr.Waite.

Little did I know that it would be him who would help me understand the learning opportunities that came with this major alongside the possibility of continuing my studies after obtaining my bachelors.

It is why  when I graduate in Spring 2017 that I will leave this major with the creative skills in print, motion media, graphic design, and photography. Alongside the creative skills enhanced in  this degree, I've also acquired an understanding of project management, costing, supply chain and logistics, human resources, sales, quality improvement, and leadership skills.

Implementing my passion for art, my knowledge, and eagerness to further improve my skills in digital media has resulted in my winning the Graphic Excellence 2017 Awards fro Best Student Entry - Design, an award given by the Printing Industries Of The Gulf Coast.
