Prior to getting out of bed, these 3 stretches can wake our body, muscles, and mind so that we can increase our energy level for the entire day. Whether you have a yoga or pilates session today or not, these stretches are beneficial for the body to prepare it for the day’s activities.

The first stretch is the Press Up

The press up begins on your stomach, using your arms to slowly push your upper torso off the bed. Keep your hips on the bed and feel the stretch through your lower back.

The second stretch is Knees to Chest

Slowly lie on your back and wrap your arms around your knees. Like your giving your legs a hug! Bring your knees into your chest so that you are stretching your lower back.

Last is the Side Stretch

Begin by sitting with your legs crossed Indian style. Raise your hands above your head and tilt to your left. Come back to center and tilt to your right. You should feel this stretch in your upper back.

Each stretch should last roughly 5-10 seconds and you must complete 5 sets each. These stretches will increase your energy level throughout the day.
