As a digital media specialist, I am able to help clients with a variety of problems and needs, from research to implementation. I have worked with real companies to help develop branding, personas, social media & content strategies, print, and packaging to help get their message to their customers using the right media at the right time.

Branding and Social Media Project

In my free time, I enjoy taking on mini projects designing packaging and print pieces for special occasions or just to apply knowledge gained in class and develop my design and technical skills.

Baby Photography

Taking photos in home without a studio can be a challenge.

I found the room in my home with the best lighting, and used a large blanket as a consistent background and foreground, while taking up close photos to ensure that none of the room was visible. If the room was visible, the blanked made it easy to touch up by using the Healing brush in Photoshop. (Click to see unedited version.)

Using these techniques, I was able to capture beautiful photos of my son to share with family members.

VDP Birth Announcements

I wanted to share the news of my son's arrival with friends and family in a way that felt personal.

I created a simple variable data photo card using ‘Dear <name(s)>’ on the back of the photo, mini thank you cards in English or Spanish and a customized message based on if they attended my baby shower or if they did not attend but still sent a gift, and the addresses for the envelopes (not pictured).The photo and thank you cards were printed in a digital press, cut using a guillotine paper cutting machine, and corners rounded. The note pad (bottom right) was printed one color, four up on a Ryobi Offset press, cut and trimmed, then 25 pages per note pad glued together.

My family loved them, as the announcement also served as a thank you gift.

Rustic Wedding Invitations

I was asked by my cousin to design low cost, rustic themed invitations

I designed the flower graphics to match the brides boots and used hand written fonts and a monogram to give a homemade, crafty feel.

Using only black ink on brown-bag paper gave my cousins the low cost, yet stylish and rustic themed invitations they wanted.

Ice Cream Bottle

I was asked by Professor Jean Pierce and Professor Jose Baez to create a bottle to test Professor Beaz’s 3D printer for packaging prototyping.

I created this bottle using ESKO Studio Visualizer Revolve and Label. I saved it as a DAE file and Professor Jose Baez was able to print the model on a 3D printer.

The Digital Media Program is hoping to allow us students to 3D print packages in the near future. This will allow us to gain more experience by testing the functionality of our bottle designs.

Sand Castle Story

This project called for a story to be told through photography.

I created a storyboard to guide me on how to convey the story of building sand castles at the beach. I used close ups to focus on the hands building the sand castles while trying to avoid showing faces so that the story was understandable and focused.

The use of close ups and focusing on actions made it easy for my professor to understand that the story was of building sand castles.

Packaging Poster

I was asked by my professor to create a poster to attract new students to the packaging emphasis of Digital Media

I created 12x18 poster so that our lab press could print on 13x19 for bleed. I made sure the poster was within University of Houston branding standards, and that student examples were shown to give students an idea of the experience they will gain. I designed the vector boxes to mimic Houston's skyline, and to host more information about the packaging course.
