Critics Vs. Yelp: Where Does the True Value Lie? - Determining the validity of peer-based review sites like Yelp helps us come to terms with how we are changing as a society. What holds more merit? A traditional figure of authority or a collective opinion of everyone around us?
I created a survey and asked anyone and everyone to participate. I wanted to determine who uses traditional print-based reviews and who uses the internet, namely Yelp (and how). I gathered all my information and consolidated it into a singular dataset. I now had enough material to begin analysis.
With everything I’ve reviewed, researched, and studied over the past two years, I’ve been able to put together an extensive dataset on my topic. I present my findings in its final form, adding my information to the public lexicon of knowledge.
I combed through the internet and printed text on the validity of both variations of review. Research helped to find what people and metrics had to say about the perceived validity of both formats. I consolidated all my research into a comprehensive paper, outlining what people and metrics had to say about my question.
